Looking for an entry level job or internship in product development? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

Product developers work on every aspect of bringing a new product to market, from generating and screening ideas to product launch. Someone working in product development usually works on one or two stages of the product. Because of the many stages of creating and launching a new product, there are many ways for you to jump in and get involved before everyone else discovers the next cool thing. A few jobs along the way include:

Market Research
Product Design
Product Engineering
Business and Market Analysis
Product Marketing

Many of these jobs require a degree in a relevant field, which varies depending on the department. Almost every company creating a product has people behind that product envisioning and designing the ideas. Products launch on a tight schedule, so if you’re not already used to working with deadlines, prepare to. Despite this, a career in product development can be a great way to create something new that millions of people use.
