Looking for an entry level job or internship in medicine? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

You don’t have to be a doctor to get into a medical career. Since the medical field is so broad, there are many options available to you. A few of them include:

Medical research: Research new medical technologies
Pharmaceutical companies: Create new pharmaceutical and medical products
Nursing homes and other home health care: Coordinate health care for people who need extra help with self-care
Medical writing: Write copy for a medical company
Administrative and operations: Keep a medical center or lab running smoothly through human resources, IT, finance, or another related department

You can also get the specialized training needed to become a doctor, nurse, or other healthcare professional. Most of these jobs require a specialized program (like nursing or dental hygiene) or years of training beyond a bachelor’s program (such as most doctors). Most positions that don’t require direct interaction with the patients require a bachelor’s degree in a related field along with an interest in medicine.
