Looking for an entry level job or internship in media? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

Media refers to the publishing and broadcasting systems that deliver information. It’s often a synonym for mass media or news media, which is what we’re sticking to here.

If you’re interested in a career in the media industry, you have many options, depending on your interests. A few of them include:

Broadcast media, delivered through television
Journalism, writing news articles
Magazines, creating regular publications on a specific topic
Newspapers, delivered through print and online
Online media, delivered through the Internet
Photography, taking photographs for media publications

You’ll need a bachelor’s degree for most media positions, along with skills specific to the positions you’re interested in, such as excellent writing skills, a pleasant television voice, or photography skills.
