The transportation industry deals with the movement of people and goods from one place to another. Transport can take on many forms: car, rail, plane, bus, or bike, to name a few.

Because transportation is such a large industry, a wide variety of jobs exists. A few possible jobs for a recent grad include:

Engineering: Design and build the vehicles of transport
Operations: Keep a transportation company running smoothly
Advocacy: Promote transportation policies
Innovation: Change the way individuals and groups drive and transport themselves through car-sharing and other programs

You can also operate a vehicle. This requires various amounts of specialized training, depending on the vehicle operated. For example, becoming a pilot requires years of specialized training.

Most of these positions require a bachelor’s degree in a related field, along with an interest in transportation.
