Looking for an entry level job or internship in travel? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

Do you like escaping your home for greener and more exciting pastures? Whether your interests lie in traveling or making travel more pleasant for others, there are plenty of opportunities for you in the travel business, from public relations to accounting to engineering.

If you’d like a job that takes travelers to interesting places, consider an airline, train or bus service, or cruise company. Here there will be a lot of hands-on jobs, as people need to repair airplanes and someone needs to inspect the ships, but many less hands-on jobs are also available. You can also be a tour guide and show your city off to travelers.

The Internet has been replacing travel agents in recent years, and as a result there are many websites for booking every stage of travel: the flight, the hotel, the car rental. Even less conventional lodging arrangements such as staying in someone’s home have cropped up. Companies run these websites, and if you’re a software developer, you might consider working with one of them. Non-software opportunities may arise in design, sales, and customer support.
