Risk management is the process of identifying and handling risks, whether positive or negative. Every business comes with risks, which can arise through many things: the financial market, the possibility of a project failing, natural disasters, deliberate attacks, and more. A career in risk management involves identifying risks and advising on how to best tackle the risk.

Since every business has risks, you can work in risk management in almost any industry, including engineering, finance, and manufacturing. You’ll most likely start out as a risk analyst, risk coordinator, or something similar and work your way up. A bachelor’s degree is in a related field is needed for almost all risk management positions.
