Looking for an entry level job or internship in education? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

The first job that comes to mind for a lot of folks when thinking of education is teaching. While teaching is an important part of education, it’s not the only part. (If you are interested in teaching jobs, why not check out our page on teaching?)

You can work in an educational institution and not stand in front of a big group of students every day. Particularly at the postsecondary level, you have many departmental options: financial aid, admissions, international education, student life, library, dining services, fundraising, accounting, and many more.

If you want to get more directly involved in education but not teach in a classroom, you still have options. You can work with an education nonprofit, either directly with the students or at the administrative level. Or with the rise of online education, you can work with an online company that brings online education to everyone. Museums are also great educational opportunities (and career opportunities for someone wanting to education). You can even create the curriculum that students use to learn material.

Most of these jobs require a bachelor’s degree, but most of them don’t require that the degree be in education. So if you want to work in education but not in a classroom, start exploring.
