Market research is the process of researching the need for a product or service. Some items that may get researched include the likelihood of a product to sell, potential store locations, and target customer demographics.

Market research jobs varies widely, but here are some things you may find yourself doing:

Running focus groups
Doing online research
Researching potential competitors
Analyzing market trends
Creating a survey
Analyzing website visits for trends
Writing reports of research results

Because market research is part of the creation of many products, you can work in many industries.

Many jobs in market research require a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. An analytical mind and ability to communicate clearly are also great skills to have.
