South Carolina is located in the southern United States. Its largest cities include Columbia, Charleston, North Charleston, and Greenville.

Major industries in South Carolina include government services, trade and transportation, manufacturing, professional and business services, education, health, and leisure and hospitality. The state manufactures textiles, chemical and paper products, machinery, and automotive products, among other things.

South Carolina also has a strong tourism industry, with cities such as Myrtle Beach among the top tourist destinations in the country.
