Looking for an entry level job or internship in New Mexico? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.
New Mexico is a leader in gas and oil production, ranking sixth in crude oil (2010) and natural gas (2012). Most of these deposits are located in the northeastern and southwestern areas of the state, with additional coal in the northwestern section.
The federal government and military are a major economic force in New Mexico, with three Air Force bases, a testing range, and an Army post as major locations. Other federally funded locations include several observatories (such as the Very Large Array) and technology labs, as well as branches of the National Park Service and the United States Forest Service.
Partly because of the scenery, tourism is also a big industry in New Mexico. That tourism doesn’t limit itself to earth. Virgin Galactic chose to make its home in Upham, and New Mexico is home to the Roswell incident. The many parks and forests in the state provide many opportunities (and possibly jobs) for interested travelers and job seekers.
