Looking for an entry level job or internship in inventory control? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

Inventory control deals with managing the inventory of a business and making sure the business always has enough of a given item. Inventory control ensures that as little as possible goes to waste or that the minimum amount necessary is ordered, saving money as well.

You could work for a business, large or small, that works with physical products at any stage, from raw materials to finished products. Your responsibilities could include:

Keeping track of item quantities with computer software
Tracking shipments
Letting buyers know what products need to be ordered
Knowing the inventory inside and out and answering customer inquiries about specific items, especially in small businesses

While you don’t need a bachelor’s degree for many inventory positions, it will definitely help you to advance more quickly. You might also look into logistics and supply chain management positions.
