Located in the southern United States, Arkansas is home to four of 2012’s Fortune 500 companies. The state’s largest cities are Little Rock, Fort Smith, and Fayetteville.

Arkansas is home to a number of recognizable names, including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Tyson Foods, Murphy Oil, and Dillard’s. The economies of the largest cities are services-dominant. Little Rock in particular has a diverse economy.

Agriculture and manufacturing still play big roles in the state economy, with Arkansas producing rice, poultry, and catfish. Arkansas also produces wood through its strong forestry industry. The state manufactures aircraft, shock absorbers, ammunition, steel, and road graders.
