A career in government doesn’t necessarily mean working for the federal government, although that is a possibility. You can also work for your state or local government, for a government contractor, or with an organization that aims to improve government in some way.
You can work in just about any area you can think of, using almost any of the skills you’ve already acquired. To name a few areas, using the federal government as an example:
Chances are you can find something that aligns to your interests. The application and interview process are long and challenging, and you’ll need a bachelor’s degree for many government positions. If you plan on working for the federal government you may also need to qualify for a security clearance.
