Looking for an entry level job or internship in aerospace? This is an overview of how to approach the search and a list of companies that might have relevant entry level and internship opportunities.

Aerospace engineering deals with the design and development of aircraft and spacecraft, from small aircraft to the Curiosity rover making new discoveries on Mars. Aerospace engineers often work in the federal government (including government contractors), in the military building new defense tools, in research labs, and in manufacturing services designing new parts. They also work with computer models a lot to design and test new products.

A bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related field is required to become an aerospace engineer. The curriculum will include engineering courses as well as courses in computer science, physics, and math. Some universities include a five-year program where you can earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years; some have co-op programs where you alternate semesters of work and school, thus gaining full-time experience while in school. Both of these are great options if you’re considering a career in aerospace engineering.
