Saturday was One Day One Job’s 4th birthday. I have a lot to say about that, but I’m sure you’re most interested in what we’re going to be doing in our fifth year. We’re working on rebuilding the site from the ground up so that we can offer a better overall user experience while doing even more to help you find your dream job. We have a ton of ideas of what we want to do, but before we get started we want feedback from you on how you think we can be better. So….

4 Years, 1461 Jobs

Five years ago I was a job seeker with no direction. After spending my college years working towards a career in Human Resources, I realized that the field wasn’t for me. I was already out of school, and I had no clue what I wanted to do besides the fact that I eventually wanted to start my own business. I spent the next half year half-heartedly applying to jobs that I didn’t really want until in May of 2007 I decided to quit job searching and start working on building something that would make the after college job search process suck a little less.

On November 12, 2007 I was launched. I did my writeup on InsideTrack and sent out the post to about a dozen subscribers. I haven’t missed a day since, and now our daily posts reach 1,000x more people. In that time we’ve:

• Helped our readers land jobs and internships at places like DailyCandy,Yext, Buddy Media, Motley Fool, Quidsi, charity: water, the United States Olympic Committee, and LivingSocial
• Reached more than 3 million people with our content
• Covered 1,400+ employers
• Hired some amazing PAID interns
• Generated a meaningful profit
• Exposed a ton of entry level hiring scams

In our fifth year we want to do more of all of the above. Instead of keeping up with the same stuff, we want to make One Day One Job even more useful. Internally we’re calling it ODOJ 2.0, and the focus is on giving you what you want. So take our survey, and let us know what we can do to make your job search suck less.
