The field of human rights focuses on addressing all areas of ending human suffering and protecting fundamental human rights from an economic, social, cultural, and political perspective. Because human rights is such a broad field, there are many areas you can work in and many types of work you can do within human rights, and thus no single career path to follow. You can work in a nonprofit, for the federal government, in advocacy, or in public policy. Some job titles suitable for recent grads include:

  • Community Organizer
  • Project Coordinator
  • Research Assistant
  • Web Editor
  • Communications Associate
  • Development Associate

You’ll need a bachelor’s degree for most jobs in human rights, but just as important is your passion for working in human rights.
