Digg

Get your shovel out. No, we’re not going to BS you, but it’s required equipment if you want a job at Digg. Digg is a social news site that allows users to vote up and share interesting news items, videos, and images. At times it can seem like a total time waster, but then out of nowhere an extremely useful submission will pop up. You’re also likely to find Breaking News on Digg well before it gets picked up by the mainstream media.

Ya Digg?

Digg is the epitome of a Web 2.0 company, and luckily they’re also one of the most popular. In fact, that’s what Digg is all about. Popularity. If lots of people don’t vote for a submission in a short period of time, the submission will fall into the abyss of not-digg-worthiness. We could tell you more, but the best way to learn about Digg is to learn how to use it. Digg probably won’t help you find a job, but it can be entertaining and surprisingly useful. You really should give Digg a try, and what’s a better way to practice than Digging one of our posts? No, don’t Digg this one. It’s not anything new for Diggers. Try Digging our newest Blog post Turning the Tables: Digging Dirt on Employers (no pun intended). All you need to do is use the green ShareThis button, and select the Digg icon. It’s really easy.

No Manual Labor Here

Sorry, we got too caught up in self-promotion. We almost forgot to talk about the jobs at Digg. They need to hire 16 people, and one of them might as well be you. Most of the positions aren’t proper fits for a new college grad, but some of them could be. The most likely to be entry-level friendly are: User Interface Designer, Site Administrator (UK), Quality Assurance Engineer, Research Analyst, PHP Developers (multiple positions), and Recruiting Coordinator. Digg’s Jobs page has an excellent overview of each position, so give it a look and maybe you’ll be Digging your job.
