We often think of technology as a bunch of ones and zeros, but it’s really “the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a preexisting solution to a problem, achieve a goal, handle an applied input/output relation or perform a specific function” (at least according to Wikipedia). Technology is really the story of human advancement, and that’s why The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, CA must be a fascinating place to visit. It’s a place that aims to create “experiences that invite people to learn through play, evoke emotions of wonder and joy, contain solid and accessible science, show how technology can improve lives, provoke thought and inspire action, and represent [their] local Silicon Valley community.”
Silicon Valley is by no means the world’s first tech hub, but it’s been the place for well over 30 years now. There’s an “environment that provokes creativity and innovation,” and that’s exactly what The Tech is continuing to foster. Right now they have a MythBusters exhibition, they’re showing a movie about The Rocky Mountain Express, and they’ll soon be hosting The Tech Challenge. Additionally, The Tech has a wide range of programs and learning opportunities that are constantly evolving to keep visitors interested and engaged. I usually get bored at museums, but The Tech sounds like the kind of place where I would really enjoy myself. If you’re the same way, take a look at their Jobs page. Right now they have some great opportunities available including a The Tech Challenge Assistant, a Guest Services Specialist (Temporary), a Gallery Interpreter, and a Theater Operations Specialist (Temporary).
