Now that’s out of the way, I’m going to tell you something embarrassing. When I was younger, I used to watch a tv show called Pepper Ann on ABC’s One Saturday Morning. When I hear the name Pepperjam, it reminds me how much of a loser I was for watching that show. Now that I’ve admitted that, I can try to regain your trust in my judgment by telling you that Pepperjam looks like an extremely fun company to work for. Their office has “Free Pizza Fridays, Ping Pong, video games (ie: Nintendo Wii, Guitar Hero), free Red Bull and music all day.” Almost sounds like a frat house without the beer… and I bet the floors aren’t sticky either.

Pepperwhat? Pepperwho?

Now that you know an embarrassing secret about me and that Pepperjam offers an office environment that won’t bore you to tears, maybe it’s time to figure out what Pepperjam does. The company started as an online gourmet food business, which probably has something to do with why they’re named Pepperjam. The business was so successful that other companies kept coming to them asking them how to emulate their online marketing success. Realizing that this was a business opportunity of its own, Pepperjam shifted its focus in 2000 to “online marketing, including pay-per-click, search-engine optimization, and affiliate program management.” It seems to have worked for them, as they were included on Inc. Magazine’s list of the 500 fastest growing privately owned companies (their 550.2% 3-year growth rate ranks them 293rd). They’ve come a long way from selling pepper jam and other gourmet foods, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t continue to try new things with their flexible business model. Somewhere along the way Pepperjam launched a comparison shopping site that doesn’t seem to have panned out, and you can bet they’re always looking for other new opportunities. For more on their history, you can read this post on the Pepperjam Blog (which also includes some controversy about one of their latest business moves).

Is Online Marketing Your Jam?

Pepperjam’s divisions include Affiliate, Graphic Design, Search Services, Information Technology, SEO, Management, Software Development, Network, Sales, Media, Finance, and Human Resources. Their current openings fall mostly into the Graphic Design/Software Development side of things, as they’re looking for an Agency Creative Services Specialist and a Web Developer and Designer. You can read more about both of these opportunities on Pepperjam’s Careers page. Since Pepperjam seems like a laid back company with a good attitude, we’ll bet that they’d love to hear from talented new grads who would like to work in any of their divisions. Pepperjam is located in Wilkes-Barre, PA, so that’s where “Free Pizza Fridays” are. To apply for a job with them you can send a resume and cover letter to careers@pepperjam.com.

While you’re doing your research, you may want to check out Pepperjam’s Facebook pages for their company and their affiliate network. You can also follow Pepperjam CEO Kristopher Jones on Twitter.

One response to “Pepperjam”

  1. Franklin says:

    Who’s that girl?
    What’s her name?
    Is she cool?
    Is she lame?
    Pepper Annnnnnnn.

It was totally the best Saturday morning cartoon. It made the term “awkward” ironically cool long before the word got mainstream the past five years.
