In the good old days companies would print a 1-800 number on their products soliciting “Questions, Comments, and Concerns.” My guess is that they got a lot of calls from 8-year-olds and 80-year-olds, and not many from people in between. This was ok for a long time, but brands are slowly coming around to the idea that interacting with their customers is probably a good thing. Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook are helping, but most brands still use them to push information instead of engaging with consumers. Crowdtap is a New York, NY based company that has developed its own network that “allows marketers to easily collaborate with and mobilize their targeted brand crowd of influential consumers for real-time research, collaboration or powerful word-of-mouth marketing.”
Market research is often time consuming and expensive, but Crowdtap is changing that. They’re able to deliver high quality interactions from influential consumers in an instant. How? They reward people who participate on Crowdtap.com (their corporate site is Crowdtap.it). I signed up and got asked all kinds of random questions. It was interesting to see what kind of research brands were doing, and I’ve already earned $2 in Amazon gift cards. If you want to sign up and try it out, here’s a link. If you do use Crowdtap, you’ll instantly notice that they’re working with all kinds of big names including American Express, General Electric, Old Navy, Pinkberry, and Pepperidge Farm. Brands like those wouldn’t be signed up unless Crowdtap delivers some really valuable insights. If you think that Crowdtap is on to something, then take a look at their Careers page. Right now the only entry level opportunity posted is Junior Software Engineer, but there are also a few internships and a mid-level Strategic Relationships Manager position posted.
