Although you probably didn’t notice since I kept churning out my regularly scheduled posts, I recently took a week long getaway to some place warm. At one of the beaches there was a man wielding a machete. Luckily, he wasn’t some psycho killer (Qu’est-ce que c’est?), just a guy selling coconut water. He’d lop off the top of a coconut, pour the water into some sort of straining device, and then pour the strained coconut water back into the empty coconut. He’d then add a straw and sell it to a thirsty person. Since having machete wielding vendors on street corners probably wouldn’t fly in most U.S. cities (have we really gotten that paranoid?), we’ve ended up with Vita Coco. It’s a branded coconut water made by a New York City based company of the same name.
Apparently quite a few celebrities have jumped on the coconut water bandwagon, and now Vita Coco is all the rage. They’ve gone from being available in a handful of stores in the Northeast to being stocked on the shelves of more than 10,000 stores across the U.S. Vita Coco has been generating tons of press, and seems to be growing at an exceptional rate. They don’t have a jobs page, but it’s evident from Craigslist searches (there’s a little job search trick hidden in that link) and their LinkedIn Company Profile that they’re doing a lot of hiring. Most of the positions seem to be for Brand Ambassador/Educator type positions that are only part-time and paid hourly (but available across the country), but I’d imagine that they might also have some Sales and Marketing positions if you reach out to them. Vita Coco is delicious and not to mention extremely good for you. They’ve helped me lose weight so I will definitely hit them up and try to give something back.
Vita Coco is such a huge company right now. It holds over 60 percent of the coconut water market share. I would love to work with them!
