There are some really exciting opportunities for new and recent grads in the financial advice industry. Learn how to land one of these jobs at the NextGen Virtual Career Fair.

I was at a wedding last night. It served as a reminder that I can’t dance. I still try, but I don’t think that it’s ever going to happen for me. That’s ok–I can leave the dancing to the dancers. Maybe I would have different feelings if I had been involved with Dancewave. They’re a non-profit that “transforms the lives of New York City youth through unique exposure to world-class, pre-professional performing arts training.” Dance is right at the intersection of arts and athletics, which makes it an ideal activity for youth programming–it builds confidence, gets kids active, and introduces them to new cultures.

So You Think You Can Dance?

Dancewave has four main goals:

  • Expose students to various techniques and styles within a genre in order to develop the versatility required of professional dancers.
  • Ingrain a sophisticated knowledge of dance history by exposing students to a wide spectrum of dance artists at various stages in their careers.
  • Create a nurturing and challenging environment for every child and teen who demonstrates a strong inclination to develop his or her technique and performance skills.
  • Approach students as artists in the making.

At the very least these kids will grow up to make other wedding-goers jealous of their moves, but chances are that the benefits of participating in Dancewave will be far more significant. If you want to be part of an organization that is using the “rigor and interactive nature of dance helps young people to learn values of co-operation, communication, focus, responsibility, and commitment,” then you should take a look at Dancewave’s jobs on Idealist. Right now they’re looking for a Marketing Associate, and the position looks perfect for a new grad.
