I don’t go to the theater very often, but when I do I usually enjoy it. There’s something pretty cool about seeing someone become a completely different character right before your eyes. As we spend more and more time looking at screens of all sizes, it’s important to remember our “theatrical traditions.” That’s what American Conservatory Theater is all about. They are a San Francisco, CA based non-profit that “embraces its responsibility to conserve, renew, and reinvent the rich theatrical traditions that are our collective legacy, while exploring new artistic forms and new communities.”
American Conservatory Theater has been around for almost fifty years. In that time they’ve had some pretty notable things happen. Today they reach more than a quarter of a million people and serve 3,000 students on annual basis. The goal with these students is to “cultivate educated men and women of the theater with a critical sense who will energize and advance performance in America.” There’s a lot that you can learn on the A.C.T.’s website, so take some time to browse. Once you’ve done that, take a look at their Careers page. Right now they’re looking for a Marketing Writer, a Draftsperson, a Development Fellow, and a Grant Writing Fellow. You can also audition if you think you’d do better on stage.
