Happy New Year! We hope you’ve already made some resolutions, but if you haven’t, we’d like to give you some ideas. First, resolve to become a great job searcher. Anyone can find a job, but to find a great job that you’ll love, you need to know how to search. We can help you with that. Not only will reading One Day, One Job’s daily posts give you great new ideas, but our job search blog will teach you skills that will help you in your job search and beyond. If you don’t trust yourself to check in every day, just subscribe as a reminder to hold yourself to the promises you made today.

Another of our New Year’s resolution recommendations is to get your personal finances in order. Not only does it go hand in hand with preparing to start your first job and live in the “real world,” but it might also give you a new job idea. We recommend that you start reading Ramit Sethi’s blog, I Will Teach You To Be Rich, and sign up for Mint.com. Mint is a new personal finance website that offers a great interface for managing all of your accounts on one site. Put simply, you set your Mint account to access your bank accounts (don’t worry, it’s really secure - they use the same security processes as your bank), and then they take that information and make sense of it for you. Their features include: easy access to balances on all your accounts and credit cards, graphical break downs of your spending habits, and even tips on how you could save money. In the next year many of you will be both making and spending more money than you ever have before. Be responsible about it.

In case Mint’s excellent web application isn’t enough for your personal finance needs (say you’re looking for a way to earn money to put into your bank account), they’re also hiring. Mint doesn’t have a ton of entry-level opportunities right now, but they are a startup that is worth keeping your eye on - as a user or job seeker. If you don’t want to take our word for it, TechCrunch also seems to be pretty enthusiastic about Mint. All of Mint’s current openings require some type of experience; however, the Front-End AJAX / Javascript Engineer and Manager of Mint Evangelism jobs could be right for a few of you. The engineer position is more likely to be a fit for a recent grad, since it’s quite possible to get significant coding and development experience during internships, in a campus job, or even while sitting in your dorm room. Although they don’t offer too much career information, Mint’s job descriptions are pretty solid, so give them a look.

Note: On April 23rd we revisited entry-level jobs at Mint.
