Memorial Day is first and foremost about remembering those who served (which is why we’ve look at organizations like Hope for the Warriors and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America in past years), but we all know that it’s also the official start of Summer and grilling season. Unfortunately, this year the weather has made sitting by the fireplace feel like a more appropriate activity than a barbecue. Either way Duraflame has you covered. They are a Stockton, CA based company that offers “a wide variety of fire-related products, including fire logs, fire starters and barbecue products.” If you need to start a fire, one of their products will help you avoid the frustration of never having been a boy/girl scout.
Although I’ve been relegated to a gas grill since I moved to a big city, my favorite way to cook is still over some Cowboy Brand Charcoal, which is made by Duraflame. Their slogan is “We Are Fire,” which is kind of funny because their headquarters is on water–on a boat in fact (a historic ferry that is docked in Stockton). While Duraflame is the perfect company to write about this Memorial Day, they don’t seem to have a Jobs page. I did a little digging, but can’t turn up much more than the fact that they have around 250 employees in North America. A company of that size should at least occasionally have entry level opportunities (I did verify that they’ve offered internships), so it’s worth reaching out or at least doing some more research. Holidays are great for coming up with offbeat job search ideas, so think about how you celebrate Memorial Day and how it might lead to finding a job.
