I have a simple personal investment strategy. The majority of my time, attention, and money goes back into this business. Most people think that investing is about buying financial instruments like stocks, bonds, and options. That can be a part of it, but it’s really about putting your resources to work for you. At this stage in your life, you should be investing in yourself as much as possible (since you’ll be reaping the returns for the next 70 years). Once you get a bit older, you can take a more traditional approach. That’s what Bailard specializes in. They’re a Foster City, CA based “employee-owned investment firm that has served institutions and private investors for over forty years.”
While all businesses are in the business of making money, Bailard is really in the business of making money–for themselves and for their clients. You can get a basic idea of their investment philosophy on their Company Overview, but if you really want to dig in, you should take a look at their history, their newsletters, and their white papers. I’m sure a lot of the stuff will be over your head, but that’s ok. You’re interested in Bailard, because it’s a great place to learn about investing (and that’s what we call investing in yourself). That’s why you need to visit their Jobs page. Right now they’re looking for an Investment Associate and a Marketing Associate. Those are their two entry level positions, and then there are a few mid level positions as well.
