I’m terrible about eating lunch during the work day. It’s a hassle and a distraction. I wish delicious, healthy food would just appear in front of me (preferably for free, but I’d be willing to pay a reasonable price). That’s exactly what ZeroCater does, except they typically do it for companies bigger than a single person. They’ve already made a name for themselves by helping companies that don’t have the resources for a Google-like cafeteria feed their employees. ZeroCater is based in San Francisco, CA, and they’ve already started expanding into New York, NY (companies like Square, WePay, Tagged, and are already using ZeroCater). As they keep growing, they’ll just bring more and more food from awesome restaurants into the workplace without all the hassle.

Cater to Your Career Needs

ZeroCater is different from other delivery services because they streamline the whole food ordering process. Here’s how it works:

  1. Tell us how many people eat, what days, and any dietary needs.
  2. ZeroCater orders meals for you from a rotation of dozens of great local restaurants.
  3. Rate the meals that arrive so ZeroCater learns your tastes and adjusts.

ZeroCater offers a ton of flexibility, so even the pickiest eaters at a company will be happy (that’d probably be me). ZeroCater makes their money by charging a 7% fee on top of the cost of the meal. The average all-in cost for a company to use ZeroCater is typically about $12.50 per employee fed, but I imagine there are certain things that can sway it either way. Another hidden benefit is that ZeroCater is able to get restaurants that don’t normally deliver to do delivery because of the size and consistency of orders that they bring in. If you’re excited (and hungry) after hearing about what ZeroCater is doing, then check out their Jobs page. Right now they’re looking for people in Customer Service (San Francisco, CA) and Restaurant Outreach (San Francisco, CA and New York, NY). These look like perfect jobs for new grads, so give them a shot.
