We all know that childhood is one of the most important periods in our lives. It sets the stage for what we’ll do and how we’ll do as we become adults, and it’s a time where it’s extremely important to make sure that the basics are accounted for. That’s why Cradles to Crayons exists. They’re a Brighton, MA based non-profit that is focused on “providing to children ages 0 to 12 some of the most important basics of life—free of charge.” For Cradles to Crayons, the focus is on hard goods–things like clothes, school supplies, and toys.

The Basics

There’s obviously a lot more to raising a child than providing the basics, but having the basics makes everything else a lot easier. Cradles to Crayons’ goal is to “make children feel valued,” and they do that by providing high-quality goods whether they’re new or gently used. The organization gets a lot of the products that it distributes through direct donations, but there are a number of ways that people can participate including “organizing a clothing collection, hosting a fundraiser, or working in one of [their] warehouses.” You can also get a job with them.
