Do you enjoy turning things into a game? If you love games and creating them–video games, board games, even card games, you can turn that love into a career.

The options for game design vary widely depending on the type of game you’re interested in. Here are a few options organized by type of game:

  • Computer and video games: Writer, animator, character artist, audio engineer
  • Mobile and online games: iOS or Android developer, artist, designer, Flash developer
  • Board games: Graphic designer, game writer, game tester

You’ll need a bachelor’s degree for most of these jobs as well as a portfolio of past work for some positions. A love of games won’t hurt.
