There are lots of publishing presses beyond the big ones, so keep your mind open to a small press when looking for a publishing job. To get a job in publishing, a love of books is practically required. Beyond that, have a degree in a relevant field, excellent communication and writing skills, and an internship or two. And be prepared to talk about what you’re reading in your interview.
