Since so many of our readers find out about One Day, One Job through our Facebook advertisements, we’re going to make the assumption that you have a solid idea of what Facebook is. What we want to emphasize today is how big of a company they’ve become. Based on the most recent investment in Facebook by Microsoft, Mark Zuckerberg’s creation now has a higher valuation than the Ford Motor Company. Is that justified? We can’t say, but some are pretty sure that it is. Whether Facebook is overvalued or not, they’re spending a lot of money to keep growing, and that means they’re hiring (they want to double their workforce). We can even back that up with a link to a report of Facebook’s leaked 2008 numbers.

If you’re looking to get really rich by being part of a startup, it’s probably too late with Facebook; however, if you want a fun work environment with cool offices and a leadership team made up of 20-somethings, then it really doesn’t get any better than Facebook. We’re pretty sure that Facebook doesn’t need our help getting your attention, but we think getting a job at Facebook will give you the chance to be part of something special while it’s still in its early stages. Beyond the excitement of working at a place like Facebook, the pay should also be excellent, considering this TechCrunch post on the bidding wars between Google and Facebook for new Computer Science grads.

There are a ton of job openings at Facebook, many of which are entry-level friendly. Most of them require programming knowledge (PHP) – even marketing and web design positions (and obviously the software development jobs that make up most of their openings). There are very few jobs that don’t require some amount of technical knowledge, but there are some (i.e. Customer Operations Analyst, Media Delivery Coordinator, or Sales Planner). You really should browse through Facebook’s jobs for yourself. They know how to do a career site right, and they’re hiring in all areas of their business. Maybe there will even be a bidding war for your talents.
