I live in Colorado where Sun has one of its major offices. One of my best friends worked for Sun for a year as a campus recruiter for their campus rep program and as an intern organizer managing the internship program for Sun nation-wide. His dad also worked for Sun and was one of their top salesmen last year. Both of them really enjoyed the work environment there. My friend has since gone to grad school on the East Coast and is looking for government-related internships. His dad decided the sales quota expectations were going to be too high after his super-successful year and moved on to another tech company.

My warning with Sun is that it frequently has lay-offs. Sun just cut 20% of its workforce this fall. However, that isn't just the economic climate. This is a common occurance. Sun will hire a lot of people, get to the end of the quarter, and realize they're in the red, then slash jobs right away. From the inside it's been criticized as just poor management.

I'd say if you're looking for an entry level job at Sun, they are there to be had and people like working at Sun. But, if you're hoping to stick around for a while or looking for a stable job, Sun might not be your best choice.
