I submitted my resume three weeks ago…my question is, does anyone know how long does it take to hear from them? Also, should I attempt emailing the College recruitment Tara Stampe? I would really appreciate your advice.

I am interested in entry level research position at MSKCC. I am especially interested in computational biology.
Are this research positions very competitive? How long should I wait to be invited to an interview?
Do they just hire somebody if some position open? Or do they hire periodically?

I am also interested in unpaid or volunteer positions at MSKCC. Do they offer unpaid or volunteer research positions? I found volunteer opportunities like administrative or patient care, but I cannot find research volunteer information.

Hi Vinod,

Sorry about not replying sooner, I didn’t notice there was a comment on the old posts.

They ask the usual questions about your strengths, weaknesses, time management, etc. the RSA position demands a lot of organization and attention to detail, so they will ask you to cite examples of that. You might also be asked about how comfortable you are working with people of higher authority than you, such as doctors and nurses. Each interview is about 30-45 minutes. I had 4 interviews before I was offered a position, another person had 6, so it depends on the department.

Salary is mediocre, it’s average for entry level 35-40k, but they offer excellent benefts, such as healthcare, dental, etc.

Hey ! I applied for Research Study Assistant and waiting for interview. I am not sure what they are going to ask. One more question how many interview I have to face and what they are are going to ask? I believe there must be one telephonic interview and one would be as person. I am not sure about the salary.Please tell me detail.

I was having a lot of trouble finding a research job in NY, and I saw MSKCC featured here, so I thought why not apply there.

Now after 2 months of interviews, I got a position! I’ll be starting work at MSKCC as a research assistant and am very grateful for all the wonderful companies that are featured on this site.
