The types of fellowship programs you’d be eligible for as a recent grad are most often found in non-profit and academic organizations. They usually concentrate on a specific program that the organization is looking to improve or build and that you (the fellow) have the skills to work on. The nature and length of a fellowship program vary widely, lasting anywhere from three months to two years. Most last between six and eighteen months.
Compensation also varies widely; you may be compensated full employee wages (including employee benefits if you’re lucky), or you may receive a small stipend that covers only living expenses.
You’ll need a bachelor’s degree for almost all fellowship programs, as well as the drive to work on these programs, working independently and creating new initiatives when needed.
